Following from the discussion in Part 1, on the various criteria involved in setting your goals, there are a few other practices that we must implement to increase the chances of achieving our goals.
1) We must write our goal/s down in a clear, distinct and succinct manner, attending to the construction of the goal description using the criteria outlined in part 1.
2) These goals must then be reviewed every day, preferably rewritten. A study of the billionaire mind-set has shown that only one main point separates a millionaire mind-set from a billionaire mind-set and that is: whereas a millionaire reviewed his/her goals at least once per day the billionaire reviewed and rewrote his/her goals more than once per day.
3) We must develop a step by step plan of how we are going to achieve our goal. This often involves "chunking" the goal down into smaller more manageable parts so that the various elements required for achieving the goal can be identified and a plan developed for their progressive achievement.
4) Once the plan has been developed we must ACT on it, do something each day towards achieving the goal. The failure to perform ACTION towards achieving your goal will guarantee the failure to reach that goal.
Problems often Encountered.
If you find that you just can't get motivated to work towards achieving your goal or keep procrastinating from actually doing anything, go back to the basic criteria required in setting the goal and re-examine your compulsion, desire and intention; perhaps they are not strong or clear enough for you to move forward.
I would definitely suggest going through a Values Elicitation procedure to assist with a seeming lack of motivation problem. If then your goals appear to be robustly constructed and are aligned with your values then you may wish to consider using the Neurosemantic pattterns of Metastating Ferociousness, Intentional Stance and Metastating Procrastination.
In fact, in the case of procrastination you may want to consider that since you do it so well, why don't you practice procrastinating procrastination.
And then there is the living below the line attitude that can enter the matrix, the Blame, Excuse and Denial mind-sets that we fall back on to justify our lack of achievement and preserve our self-ego. We must discipline ourselves and learn to differentiate between that which is out of our control and that which we did have control over but failed to act wisely on. We are only human and thus fallible, by giving ourselves permission to accept this fallibility througth use of the Metastating Fallibility pattern will greatly assist in this area.
And remember: "People have all the resources they need within them; they just need to access, amplify and apply them."
