Excellent book detailing throwing techniques and grip fighting and leading into finishes from the takedowns and many other tactics which will benefit a ,high level grappling game. Essentially y combines Judo throwing with brazilin Jiu Jitsu and a lot of other input from wrestling and combining knowledge to produce a standup to ground game.

Covers numerous advanced Brazilian Jiu Jitsu techniques for BJJ Tournament, Submission Grappling (No Gi) competition and Vale Tudo (MMA) including takedowns, escapes sweeps form guard and finishes. Definitely for the advanced student.

Eddies book on the famous Rubber Guard that he developed to a high level game, it also covers his half guard and butterfly guard (hooks in guard ) game providing many sweeps and transitional tactics. An excellent example of a methodology for putting together a game plan.

Eddies book on the twister that Eddie developed to a very high level. Eddie also covers some Mount, sprawl and Back mount tactics. This book is an excellent accompaniment to Eddies’ Rubber Guard book.

This is an excellent book for MMA it covers every aspect of MMA fighting from standup striking, takedowns to working the ground with striking, sweeps, escapes and finishes. It begins with the Basics and provides a complete MMA game.

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu: Advanced Techniques. Fabio Gurgel.

The follow on from Fabio’s first book on Basic Jiu Jitsu, this books covers several interesting techniques that will supplement your BJJ Gi game.

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu: Black Belt Techniques. Jean Jacques Machado.

One of my favorite books from one of the most innovative and successful BJJ exponents in the world today. This book is full of great techniques for several positions and gives a real insight into Jean Jacque and the Machado brothers Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. This really is a must have.

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu: Championship Techniques. Jean Jacques Machado.

Along with the previous Black Belt Techniques book this is an excellent book for the Advanced BBJ practitioner. The book is almost entirely devoted to the Guard game but also includes sections on the Mount, Knee Ride, Side control and the back. If you are into developing a great guard game this is a must.

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu: Submission Grappling Techniques, Royler Gracie with Kid Peligro.

Covers the Submission Grappling No Gi game especially dealing with the fundamental and Intermediate level.

The Essential Guard. Kid Peligro and Rodrigo Medeiros.

Covers every aspect of the guard from the fundamental and intermediate perspective. How to work and control the guard , sweeps, finishes and getting back to guard from various positions. This is a book that you should have if you want to develop your guard game to its’ full potential.

Best Judo: Isao Inokuma, Nobuyuki Sato.

A very good book providing Throwing, grappling and combination techniques from a couple of the best Judo instructors. Very useful for Beginners and advanced practitioners alike.


Vital Judo: Grappling Techniques. Isao Okano. This is a great book from a school of Judo that specialized in Ground work. Many of the techniques in here are very similar to BJJ tactics.
